The Taiwanese-American Fellowship Presbyterian Church joined in the ministry of the Native American Outreach Ministries, Inc. in Northeastern Arizona from July 18th to the 25th. 18 people from TAFPC flew to Arizona to aid in the building project for the second NAOMI House. The first house is filled well over capacity with two dozen children temporarily or permanently housed there because of abusive home situations. It was our pleasure to dodge the scorching Arizona sun by working very early in the morning to complete 3/4 of the entire roof on the new house which has 6-bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2-studio apartments, and is wheelchair accessible. We also installed windows and painted. The highlight of the trip, by far, was enjoying devotional and recreational activities with the children of NAOMI. 9 out of 10 of these children have been sexually abused. However, the future looks much brighter for all of them, and hopefully for future generations, because of the ministry of NAOMI House which seeks to break the vicious cycle of abuse by creating space for the powerful healing of Jesus Christ to impact lives, one child at a time.
