Taiwanese American Fellowship Presbyterian Church (TAFPC) is a church with the
specific mission of preaching God's gospel among the Taiwanese Americans in the
tri-state area, especially the areas surrounding New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Founded
in 1980, TAFPC is now not only the spiritual and moral leader to the central Jersey
Taiwanese American Christian community, but also a warm home for all Taiwanese Americans
in this area. Through its Sunday services including worship and sermons, and
Sunday schools, as well as bible studies conducted at its seven groups covering most of
the New jersey and east Pennsylvania, TAFPC has been preaching God's words to the Taiwanese American who are
not yet touched by the saving grace of God.
In 1989, TAFPC moved to New
Brunswick to share the facility with First Reform Church.
TAFPC and continued to grow. Then in 1999, TAFPC formed its branch
church in Slackwood. The Slackwood branch subsequently became Grace
Taiwanese American Presbyterian Church in 2001. In September 2001,
to facilitate growth, TAFPC moved again to the current address to share
the facility with New Brunswick Presbyterian Church.
Church Chronicles
Before 1974:
Scattered Bible study groups at Millstone Presbyterian Church and Kendall
Park area led by Rev. Englaam Hsieh and Rev. Andrew
Kuo.
4/14/1974:
Two Bible study groups were combined to form Formosan Christian Fellowship
of Central Jersey and meet at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton.
1976:
Meeting was relocated to Kingston Presbyterian Church.
7/20/1980:
Joined Presbyterian Church, USA, and become part of the New Brunswick
Presbytery. Church name was officially changed to Taiwanese/American
Fellowship Presbyterian Church (TAFPC.)
11/02/1986:
Rev. Ben Hsieh was installed. Meeting place was remained at Kingston
Presbyterian Church.
7/16/1989:
Due to growth, TAFPC relocated to the First Reformed Church in New
Brunswick.
7/19/1993:
Rev. Angela Ying was installed as Associate Pastor.
4/04/1999:
Slackwood congregation was formed in Greater Princeton Area.
3/26/2000:
Rev. Tony Lin, was installed as Associate Pastor, who has been assigned
to focus on the English ministry.
8/26/2002:
Due to growth, TAFPC relocated to the New Brunswick Presbyterian Church.
