Question 1: Jeremiah 50: 21 - 46

The prophet predicted that the total destruction of Babylon and the wars killing the people of Babylonia. The historical fact shows that the king of Persia Cyrus conquered Babylon without serious confrontation and even possibly negotiated with the Babylonian troops to avoid bloodshed for the people living in the city of Babylon. So the prophecy is not exactly fulfilled although Cyrus did release Jewish people back to their homeland and many years after in the Hellenistic period the city of Babylon was desolated (by 141 BC). How do we read the Biblical prophecy as finding out that it does not match the historical development?

先知預言巴比倫的毀滅及巴比倫人在戰爭中受害。歷史的結果顯明波斯王居魯士征服巴比倫﹐總是無投入大規模的爭戰。有可能是跟巴比倫軍隊談判成功﹐無流血進入巴比倫城。

雖罔居魯士尾呀真正有互猶太人轉去故鄉﹐巴比倫城煞是到希臘時代才完全荒廢﹐原來的預言算是無完全照字面記載的實現。若預言及後來的歷史進展無核﹐咱欲怎樣真正了解聖經記載預言的意義﹖

Question 2: Jeremiah 51: 59-64

After 2 chapters of oracle against Babylon, Jeremiah's words ended with a symbolic act by Seraiah, sinking the scroll down River Euphrates. Seriah could have been arrested by the Babylonians because this action proclaimed the sinking of Babylon. When we are in a condition of being oppressed like these exilic Jews, how can we find courage to act as faithful as Seraiah.
