Question 1: Joshua 2 & 7

Taken out of context, the story of Rahab can be interpreted as “treason" from Jericho's point of view.  Taken out of context, the story of Achan's sin can be interpreted as “God has no Mercy". What lesson can we learn from reading these two stories about Jericho together?

Question 3: Joshua 3 & 4, Genesis 7, Exodus 14:10-26

How Israelites crossed the river of Jordan was paralleled with the event that the Israelites’ previous generation had crossed the Red Sea (Joshua 4: 23).  However in these two events, the representations of God’s abiding by the Israelite people are different: In the Red Sea crossing, the pillar of fire / cloud and the protective angel represented God’s residency (Exodus 14:19).  In the river Jordan crossing, the ark of covenant was the representation (Joshua 3:17).  This ark literarily and symbolically can also be related to the story of Noah and the great flood in the book of Genesis. 

In your personal life, how do you perceive God’s staying with yourself?  And what are the representations we as a Taiwanese American church community here uses to recognize God’s presence?  Why are they meaningful (or not)?
